We are here!

We arrived in Lao two weeks ago.  What a two weeks it has been.  Poor living conditions but very nice people.  Came back from church where we eat a meal after the 3 hour block every week except Fast Sunday.  The food looks very unappetizing.  Today there was a rooster head in the soup!  My girls would die.  The best food we have found have been the French Restaurants.  It is sooooo hot here.  I sweat like I have never before.  It is the humidity and and heat.  We are adjusting but it is harder when you are older.  We do a lot of English teaching.  That is how we are able to get into this country.  We have to apply for visas every 6 months.  We hope to get our first visas this week.  We got into the country on a tourist visas which you can get at the airport.  Just one other Senior Couple here.  No Missionary work going on.  Just Humanitarian Projects.  We cannot preach here unless we want to go to jail.  One Branch in the whole country which we attend. 

MTC Experience

This is our Group of Senior Missionaries.

What an experience we have had last week in the MTC. This week was "Preach My Gospel" training. We learned how useful and helpful the PMG lessons are and had a chance to teach others in our group of senior missionaries and well as to teach some role playing visitors who come to help the missionaries to learn how to teach the lessons. We learned much about teaching, what to do and what not to do and learned that we are not very organized and succinct in our teaching. We will not do much PMG teaching in Lao but we need to know it if we get the opportunity to teach.

MTC week

What a busy and tiring week at the MTC. We are done with our Lao language training. Our trainer Brother Mike (I can't begin to say his last name) Rattanasengchanh, has been really patient with us. Wish he could go with us. We leave in 3 more days!

Our Mission to Laos

We received our mission call to Laos on March 25, 2010. We will go in to the MTC on May 27th and leave for Laos on June 10th. I am going to try to start blogging now for the first time so it will be our journal for family and friends.
